Welcome! I am Diane Matthews and I created Made Sew Happy, a small sewing and design business based out of Flossmoor, IL.
For years I have had this desire to make…to create…to leave my mark in some way. I’ve enjoyed crafting and creating items to give as special gifts or to document special personal events. I’ve toyed with the idea of starting a business, but never had the guts to really do it. My engineering background prompted me to be cautious and to research and to plan. Then the more I would research and plan, the harder and riskier it all seemed.
I would question, “Is my idea good enough?” or “Are my ideas unique enough?”
Then after a long car ride to North Carolina and much encouragement from my husband and family, I opened my Etsy shop in 2014 and began doing artisan and craft fairs in 2015.
After a bit of soul searching, I was determined to provide handmade products that could brighten someone’s day. Starting with fabric tote bags and Christmas tree skirts, I’ve expanded to include pocket reading pillows, pennant banners and custom sewing projects to my product line.
I truly enjoy taking the time to craft these unique items for others to cherish and I look forward to what special projects the future may hold!
